In Shanghai, China, a village of 10 houses has been created out of 3D printed concrete parts in just one day. Each house only costs around $5000 to complete. The concrete is partly made out of recycled waste so they are also more environmentally friendly than normal concrete houses. The system used to create the houses took a year to perfect. The concrete 'printer' was 150 meters long and 10 meters wide by 6 meters deep. The printer turns out parts which are then assembled into the buildings onsite. The material used was a mixture of high grade cement, recycled construction waste and industrial waste all reinforced with fiber-glass. This type of housing is envisioned for use as inexpensive rapid solutions for people hit by economic, disaster or other troubles.
